Full time (35 hrs/wk), maternity cover for 1 year

Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home

Salary circa £33,000 pa plus benefits

A brilliant opportunity has arisen for a positive and enthusiastic individual to join our fast-paced Academic Quality Unit. Our mission is to drive excellence through high quality, professional service which maintains academic quality and governance standards, whilst underpinning an outstanding student experience. As a Student Casework Officer, you will assist the team by overseeing the effective operational management of UCEM's student complaints and appeals procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring that all cases are investigated in line with UCEM procedures whilst also supporting the smooth functioning of the student disciplinary procedure. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to enhance their career within the Higher Education sector.

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the effective operational management of UCEM's student appeals and complaints procedures.
  • Arrange stage 2 appeal meetings and take minutes to capture the points discussed.
  • Attend Academic Misconduct Panel meetings as the Academic Quality Unit representative to ensure that procedure is followed and that the minutes accurately reflect the discussions at the meeting.
  • Work with the Director of Academic Quality in disseminating key quality issues across UCEM including delivering quality related training.

Our main requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English Language Grade C or 4 or above.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Experience extracting, analysing and interpreting information including data to produce written reports.
  • Effective planning, co-ordination and organisational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • A positive, professional approach and the ability to remain calm and considered under pressure.
