Hours:-

Monday-Thursday (08:00-16:30pm), Friday (08:00-15:30pm)

Overview

Russell Taylor Group have a fantastic opportunity for a Laboratory testing individual with metallurgy and corrosion testing experience to join a well-established testing business. Our client has gone from strength to strength over the last decade and have continued steady growth planned for the ongoing future.

This division of the business are super busy with plenty of overtime available for those that want it and are going to be looking to add additional head count to the team over the coming months to support the demands of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing, testing and reporting of materials.
  • Sample preparation including cutting
  • Mounting, grinding, polishing and macro etching of samples.
  • Carry out metallography and cleanliness verifications
  • Conduct weld assessments and corrosion testing (including the preparation of corrosion specimens in line with customer demands)
  • Carry out hardness testing
  • Use metallurgy focused microscopes
  • Report the findings in full to clients and customers both written and verbally.
  • Support the technical operation of the laboratory
  • Maintain accurate records of observations

The Person

  • Educated to degree or HNC standards or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with metallurgy/corrosion testing is essential for this role e.g.- metallography, corrosion testing, macro etching or hardness testing. You do not need to have experience in all of these tests, experience in one or two would be suitable for this role.
  • This is not a massively customer facing role, but from time to time you will be required to discuss results with customers face to face or via a written report so both written and verbal communication skills are key.
  • Excellent ability to work well within a team and independently
