Proofreader - Websters International

Posted by Websters International.

Websters International (www.websters.co.uk) and its sister company, The Content Creation Company (www.theccc.uk), are looking for a talented and dependable colleague to join our team and help us maintain our reputation for quality and integrity. This is an exciting opportunity to work across both companies on a variety of digital editorial projects.

You are likely to have:

  • A degree or demonstrable high level of English language
  • An ability to learn quickly and apply those learnings in your work
  • A proven interest in editorial work
  • A very keen eye for detail and consistency
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office and strong IT skills
  • Constructive approach to feedback and keen to learn new skills

You will be proofreading content in all areas that the companies work in. These include:

  • Localising a variety of marketing and UA content from US to UK English
  • Sustainability and other academic areas
  • Board games and trivia content

You may also have the opportunity to write and edit in some of these areas, depending where your interests and your talents take you.

You will receive:

  • A salary between £24,000 and £26,000 depending on experience
  • 20 days of holiday, plus bank holidays or time off in lieu
  • Opportunity to join the workplace pension (after three months)
  • Flexible working
  • Hybrid working

This position can be held remotely or in our London offices, although if remote/hybrid working is preferred you will be expected to travel to our office at least once per week. We're looking for you to start as soon as possible.

To apply, please submit your CV, answer the eligibility questions and supply a brief covering note that outlines why you think you will be a great asset to our team. If you're a good fit, we'll ask you to complete an editorial test. Successful candidates will be invited to interview, with initial interviews taking place over Teams; second interviews will be held in person at our London office.

We know that a lot of marginalised groups may not submit an application for a job unless they meet every criteria stated in the advert. We also know that there is no one path to a successful proofreading career. If, after reading this advert, you feel any amount of urge to apply (and want to work for a company who will value you for being you), we'd love to hear from you.
