Assistant Headteacher

We are excited to be working with an independent special school in the Merseyside area in their search for a Science Specialist Assistant Headteacher!

With a January 2025 start, you will be responsible for working alongside the Deputy and Headteacher to ensure that the school provides a safe and positive learning environment in which children and young people can develop the necessary skills to make a positive transition into the next stage of their education, employment and/or training.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive science lesson plans that align with the curriculum.
  • Utilise tutoring and mentoring techniques to support students in understanding scientific concepts.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, incorporating techniques such as behaviour management and speech therapy when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative learning environment.
  • Provide care and guidance to students, including toddler care where applicable.
  • Utilise applied behaviour analysis strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Lead on Assessment and outcomes across the school.
  • Support the Alternative Education Manager in being part of the ongoing Quality Assurance of Off-Site provision.
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive and clear strategic vision for the school.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant field.
  • Teaching certification (OTS).
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with special education needs practices and principles.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with students of varying ages.
  • Passion for science education and inspiring young minds.
