Job Title: High Level Teaching Assistant

Location: London, Camberwell

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000

MLK Education Search are pleased to be supporting this specialist school that supports young girls with various needs in the search for a High Level Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with subject leads in order to develop effective partnership working
  • Work with SLT in advancing student learning, for example, identifying suitable materials and manage tasks within the framework set by the teacher or SENCO
  • Deliver learning activities for individual students or groups to advance their learning
  • Liaise with SEN Lead to ensure access arrangements and provision is suitable for students
  • Work under the supervision of the SEN Lead, Head of T&LA and allocated teacher to plan and prepare work to deliver subject specific lessons to small groups or for intervention
  • To assess and report on the progress of students
  • Take responsibility for the management of key areas within the school and management of other teaching support staff, including the allocation and monitoring of work and training (under the direction and supervision of the SEN Lead)
  • Undertake exam invigilation, as required
  • Undertake small group teaching
  • Report to class teachers/home for students involved in intervention
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of provision and intervention strategies
  • Contribute to a programme of support for a student that may, at times, take place outside of school

Desirable Experience and Qualifications:

  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths
  • HLTA qualification or commitment to undergo training after probationary period
  • Strong experience of planning, managing and implementing Attendance strategies within a school setting
  • Experience identifying interventions to raise attendance of pupils
  • Experience of teaching small groups/individuals
  • Experience of working with students with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
  • Experience of planning and monitoring progress of individual/small groups
  • Experience working directly with pupils and parents
  • Experience working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Experience analysing data and producing reports and identifying key insights
