Finance Assistant (Charity) - Exeter / Hybrid - Full time (4 days considered) - Circa £25,000 FTE

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been re-engaged to assist a highly regarded Exeter based charity in their search for a Finance Assistant. The position is offered on a permanent, full time basis with a 37.5 hour working week (Could be 4 days). There is also scope for the successful candidate to negotiate a hybrid working pattern following completion of the probation period.

Working closely alongside a highly experience Head of Finance, liaising regularly with colleagues across all areas of the organisation and external stakeholders, this will be a broad and interesting opportunity which would be well suited to a candidate seeking to broaden their range of experience. Key responsibilities to include:

  • Daily posting of accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Petty cash processing and reconciliation
  • Assist with month and year end preparations
  • Monitoring the aged debtor report
  • Payroll administration using automated system
  • Other ad-hoc duties as and when required

We're looking for a Finance Assistant who possesses 6-12+ months of recent exposure in a similar position. Applicant's may be qualified through vocational experience or part/fully AAT qualified. Previous experience of charity accounting formalities would be desirable though not essential assuming you have an aptitude to learn new skills and procedures.

This is a visible role that will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, often working with colleagues outside of finance and as a part of a small accounting team. Most importantly, the successful candidate should share a passion for the charity's objectives - the role works with a highly passionate team.
