Assistant Financial Controller

Morgan McKinley is excited about this opportunity to join a growing Finance team as a Assistant Financial Controller based in Swindon. This is a hybrid role and working and a supportive environment.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, your role will be managing the small Cash management function with 7 direct reports: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash flow reporting, as well as production of our annual accounts, tax and compliance, and supporting the Financial Controller.

This role will interact with key internal and external stakeholders in the business. Our client can offer hybrid working of 3 days based in the office and 3 days working from home, flexible working, bonus, the opportunity to grow within the organisation and much more.

The Company

Morgan McKinley's client are an established organisation who is growing from strength to strength, based in Swindon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, guidance and support for the transactional teams, manage the monthly close for AP, AR and Cash Book and oversee the purchase ledger, sales ledger and cash teams to ensure postings are timely and accurate.
  • Preparation of the 12 week rolling cashflow forecast, including variance analysis and commentary, which is sent to the Board weekly
  • Preparation of an annual cashflow budget
  • Review of financial data and consolidation of overseas entities. Support of relationships with overseas accountants and accounting advisors
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts and companies house filings for UK-based trading entity and holding company including management of the statutory audit process being the key day to day point of contact for external auditors and preparing audit information as required
  • Monitor and set targets and KPI's for the team to improve controls and execute tasks in a high-volume environment
  • Management of relationships with external tax advisors including preparation of information required for tax filings and development of tax strategy for both direct and indirect taxes
  • Drive improvement to processes and systems to ensure they are efficient and fit for purpose and to improve controls; including oversight of ongoing projects
  • Managing day-to-day currency needs for weekly payment runs and forecasting currency requirements so sufficient hedges can be placed to meet Hedging policies. Supporting the Financial Controller to managing relationships with currency providers

Skills/experience:

  • Qualified accountant CIMA/ACA/ACCA
  • Good people management skills with previous experience leading and motivating a team
  • Management and Statutory accounts experience.
