Accounts Assistant

We are a family run accountancy practice looking to acquire an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team in Broxbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting two company accountants with the preparation of accounts. You will gain first hands-on experience across the Account Payable, Accounts Receivable, and wider transactional finance functions such as Opening and Closing balances. Working in a finance role you're going to have to be detailed-orientated, have a good aptitude for numbers and be a confident communicator.

Main Responsibilities of the role:

  • Preparing statutory accounts and tax returns
  • Working with spreadsheets, sales and purchase ledgers and journals
  • Submission of Corporation Tax Returns and Personal Tax Returns as and when required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Good communication with clients and colleagues is essential
  • Ability to multi task and manage their own work flow
  • Be proficient with cloud-based bookkeeping software such as Xero as well as Sage and Vital Tax
  • Be familiar with HMRC requirements.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction accurately
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver
  • Competent IT skills, particularly proficient with spreadsheet software
  • Some knowledge of payroll would be beneficial
  • Ability to commute to Broxbourne

Qualifications:

  • AAT Level 2 or 3
