Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a mainstream Widnes-based high school as they are looking to recruit motivated and reliable teaching assistants to work within the ASD resource base. This is a long-term temporary contract supporting pupils with moderate ASD.
Your new role
In your new role as a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils within a resource based on a 1:1 basis. You will take a pupil-centred approach to education, ensuring that the students' individual needs, academic requirements and emotional state are accounted for and that their EHCP is met. You will build strong constructive relations with your pupils by communicating with them and ensuring that all activities are inclusive and accessible. Other duties will include, but may not be limited to behaviour management, classroom management and liaising with the class teacher/SENCO.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting children or adults with SEN, as well as:
- Previous experience supports ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorders)
- The ability to take a pupil-centred approach to education
- An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is advantageous but not essential
