Paralegal- Criminal Procedure

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Paralegal with a focus on the Criminal Procedure & Investigations Act (CPIA). This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team investigating serious financial services matters. You will have the chance to enhance your paralegal skills, develop your legal analysis, attention to detail, and judgement skills through ongoing learning and development training.

What you'll do:

As a Paralegal specialising in CPIA, you will play a crucial role within our client's Enforcement division. Your primary responsibility will be reviewing and analysing documents in line with the requirements of the CPIA. You will work closely with a team of experienced investigators and lawyers on high-profile cases, ensuring all documentation is accurately summarised and pertinent information is highlighted. Your ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy will be key to your success in this role.

  • Reviewing material using digital document management system (EDT) and other internal databases
  • Analysing documents and applying descriptions that accurately summarise the content in accordance with the requirements of the CPIA
  • Meeting deadlines for the review of documents allocated to you
  • Maintaining and promoting effective working relationships with colleagues in the same and other business areas
  • Undertaking any additional, related tasks, as determined by the disclosure officer

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Paralegal role will bring proven legal training or experience from a law firm. You should have experience reviewing large volumes of material and be adept at analysing complex documents. Your ability to apply descriptions that accurately reflect content in a comprehensive manner will be essential. Previous experience with case management systems and evidence review platforms is required. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills are necessary for building effective working relationships.

  • Proven experience in a specific technical area or skill: Legal training (for example Law at A level or degree level) or experience of working in a law firm
  • Experience of reviewing large volumes of material
  • Experience of analysing complex documents and applying a description that accurately reflects the content in a comprehensive manner
  • Previous experience with the use of case management systems and evidence review platforms
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
