Our Client, a Swindon Borough Council, is seeking an AMHP for the Emergency Duty Service.

Responsibilities of this role:

  • You will ensure Local Authority statutory responsibilities in accordance with the Children Act 1989, the Mental Health Act 1983, and other relevant legislation, responding to urgent situations that cannot wait until the next working day.
  • You will provide an essential social work service out of normal office hours through the night-times, weekends and holiday periods, covering a rota.
  • The team is responsible for delivering a high quality and responsive service to children, young people and vulnerable adults. EDS covers a wide spectrum of social work practice. They predominantly undertake a range of assessments and interventions.
  • The majority of EDS work is Child Protection and urgent Mental Health Act assessments. The team works closely with our police and health protection partners, ensuring the provision of an effective comprehensive service.
  • In this role you will lead child protection investigations and assess/support children in need. In so doing, you will act immediately to secure the protection and safety of children including the placement of children in foster care.

Requirements of this role:

  • Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience of working with children, young people, and families.
  • Must have an Approved Mental Health Professional Award
