The Strategic Relationship Account Manager will report directly to the Head of Strategic Relationship Management (SRM). This role involves planning and delivering a comprehensive engagement programme with key companies in the West Midlands, working collaboratively with public and private sector stakeholders. The role requires travel within the region and offers a hybrid working environment.
Main Responsibilities and Key Activities:
- Serve as a professional and knowledgeable entry point for stakeholders.
- Build and maintain credible relationships at the C-Suite level within both private and public sectors.
- Leverage your experience in key West Midlands sectors to provide insightful and valuable dialogues with senior executives.
- Collaborate with public sector stakeholders, including Local Authorities and the Department of Business & Trade, to support managed accounts.
- Develop and implement an intelligence-led account management plan.
- Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of actions from client engagements.
- Efficiently and effectively use CRM systems to evaluate activities for all managed accounts and share insights with relevant teams.
- Record all engagements, interactions, meetings, phone calls, and emails in the CRM system.
- Work with colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to SRM firms, referring to Sector Specialists or Business Development Managers as needed.
- Engage with key industry associations and trade bodies as relevant.
- Collaborate proactively with the Head of SRM and SRM colleagues to deliver a professional and strategically valuable service.
- Promote the benefits of the SRM offer to businesses in the West Midlands.
- Represent the organisation professionally at events and actively work to raise the profile of the West Midlands region.
- Undertake any other reasonable activities related to the delivery of the SRM service.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly at the C-suite level using your knowledge of key West Midlands industries (e.g., automotive, advanced manufacturing, creative & digital, life sciences, low carbon, professional services).
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills, with the ability to ask incisive questions and develop effective solutions.
- A consultative approach combined with robust project management skills.
- Ability to identify and prioritise tasks effectively according to client company timetables.
