Teqniq is searching for a Principal Recycling Improvement and Engagement Officer to work in the public sector.

35 hours per week.

7 months contract.

09:00-17:00

Job Description:

The main purposes of the role:

  • It is vital that the candidates have suitable managerial skills and demonstrate previous management experience in order to be a credible candidate for consideration. To be credible, the candidate does also need to have some understanding/knowledge and experience of waste and recycling.
  • Lead the recycling improvement and engagement team, driving an increase in community engagement and behaviour change to improve local environmental quality, waste reduction, waste prevention, re-use, recycling and composting· To develop and deliver the Council's Recycling Improvement and Engagement programme through effective service planning and management to achieve:- Greater engagement with residents and other key stakeholders- A reduction in waste - a network of re-use activities- An increase in recycling and a reduction in contamination across the Borough- An engagement programme for schools- An improvement in the infrastructure, service provision and delivery at blocks of flats and estates
  • To support the development and delivery of Tower Hamlet's waste management strategy objectives in response to changing national and regional policy, strategy and legislation.
  • To help people take more responsibility for management of their waste, reducing the impact on environmental quality. Helping people to waste less, recycle more and look after their local area.
  • To ensure high standards of customer care, through effective management, investigation and handling of complaints, queries and service requests.
  • Ensure effective use of information and advice to improve communication and engagement with residents, businesses and visitors to the borough.
  • To support development of knowledge and expertise across all Environmental Services teams in driving community engagement and waste management behaviour change.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of clerical, administrative and office systems and procedures.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of waste management services and recycling schemes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of working in a recycling or waste management environment.
  • Experience of supervising/managing staff.
  • Experience of working and dealing with the community sector.
  • Experience of managing and delivering projects.
  • Experience of analysing data, preparing reports and drawing recommendations and conclusions.
