Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Financial Accountant to join their team in Manchester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a difference by providing high-quality financial support, including business and financial reporting. You will be responsible for supporting various financial reporting structures, assisting with audits, and the production of end-of-year accounts. This role requires someone who can maintain confidentiality and work effectively across different teams within the organisation.

As an Assistant Financial Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality financial support to the organisation. This includes ensuring that accounting records are accurate, overseeing invoice recording and payment within timescales, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

You will also assist with the management of payment and budget systems, including the production, monitoring, and reviewing of budgets. Your role will involve producing detailed monthly expenditure reports for each Directorate, detailing their expenditure against budget and profile. Furthermore, you will assist with the production of timely and accurate Annual Accounts, liaising with external auditors when necessary.

  • Ensure accounting records are accurate and consistently maintained
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliations of ledger balances
  • Review current systems and processes to ensure they incorporate appropriate financial controls
  • Assist with the management of payment and budget systems
  • Production of detailed monthly expenditure reports for each Directorate
  • Assist with the production of timely and accurate Annual Accounts
  • Provide training and support on finance and accounting procedures as necessary

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Financial Accountant position brings a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role. You are proficient in using Microsoft Excel and have a working knowledge of financial payment and budgeting software. Your competence extends to other Microsoft Office packages such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Your effective writing skills enable you to communicate complex financial information clearly. You possess excellent listening and communication skills which allow you to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels within the organisation. Lastly, your excellent attention to detail ensures accuracy in all aspects of your work.

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a similar role
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of financial payment and budgeting software
  • Competent in the use of other Microsoft Office packages (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Effective writing skills
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
