Salary: £25,000- 40,000

MLK Education Search are seeking to appoint an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a therapeutic school in South East, London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Plan, resource, and prepare engaging occupational therapy programs, supported by educational staff and leadership.
  • Professional Collaboration: Liaise with colleagues and build positive relationships with families, ensuring ethical and safe therapy practices with proper consent.
  • Pupil Supervision: Maintain constant supervision to guarantee pupil safety at all times.
  • Training Delivery: Lead and deliver OT-specific training for staff, drawing from personal expertise and knowledge.
  • Assessment and Intervention: Assess pupils to identify those requiring additional OT interventions and refer them for tailored 1-1 or group sessions.
  • Supportive Learning: Provide support levels to enable pupils to access learning, identifying individual needs and customizing therapeutic programs.
  • Progress Reporting: Regularly document pupil progress through therapy reports and contribute detailed information for annual reviews.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and secure therapy notes to ensure confidentiality.
  • Transition Facilitation: Ensure smooth transitions within the school day, between terms, and across sites.
  • Daily Support: Offer support to staff and pupils, including planned interventions, in-class strategy modeling, and ad hoc OT activities for emotional regulation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the learning and therapy teams to integrate occupational therapy into daily school operations.
  • Family Communication: Regularly update families of pupils receiving OT and attend all relevant meetings and open days.
  • Professional Development: Participate in meetings, training, and continued professional development, aligning with the school's ethos and aims.
  • External Supervision: Organize and attend external supervision sessions to manage transference from working with pupils with adverse early experiences.
  • Confidentiality and Compliance: Uphold strict confidentiality regarding pupil data and comply with all relevant policies and procedures.

  • Outstanding communication skills (with pupils, families & professionals)
  • Strong ability to work constructively and collaboratively at all times as part of a unified team Strong ability to work successfully with children with extremely challenging behaviour Reflective & eager to progress professionally.
  • Attention to detail, including in terms of presentation, punctuality and supporting the maintenance of an attractive environment for therapy & learning.
