Management Accountant
Welwyn Garden City (Full time, Permanent)
£45,000 - £50,000
Our client is looking for a Management Accountant to join their team, in this role you will support the company by providing accurate and timely financial insights and aid in the achievement of the company's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
- Prepare and present the monthly reporting pack, including KPIs, sales statistics, and financial commentary.
- Develop the annual budget, forecasts, and strategic plans in alignment with the group's timetable.
- Support management and the CFO with data-driven decision-making.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns (VAT, Sugar Levy, Plastic Tax, etc.) as required.
- Oversee the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and liaise with group auditors.
- Optimize working capital by managing stock holdings, debtor collections, and creditor payment terms to maximize net free cash flow.
- Provide insights and initiatives to enhance profitability and reduce costs.
- Conduct financial evaluations of new product development, promotions, and capital expenditure requests.
- Prepare and maintain detailed working papers and balance sheet reconciliations to support the monthly and annual reporting processes.
- Compile and deliver monthly manufacturing reports, including balance scorecards and financial statements.
- Oversee treasury functions and monthly manufacturing costing processes.
- Lead and participate in various financial projects as directed by management.
- Timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting in line with group deadlines.
- Quality and completeness of monthly and annual working papers, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Effective delivery of KPIs tailored to the business needs.
- Compliance with statutory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant accounting qualification, with a minimum of AAT.
- 3-5 years of experience in a finance function.
- Proficiency in UK GAAP/IFRS.
- Experience with SAP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- High levels of initiative, reliability, and confidentiality.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of the distribution and FMCG sectors.
- ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Experience in manufacturing accounting.
