NJR Recruitment is excited to present an outstanding opportunity on behalf of a Manchester City Centre broking client for a dynamic and experienced Director of Placement.

In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of shaping and executing the broking and placement strategy, ensuring that our client continues to deliver tailored and competitive insurance solutions to its clients.

As a key member of the leadership team, this role demands a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to trading and a proven track record in building high-level insurer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing the broking strategy to drive business growth, enhance client satisfaction, and ensure profitability within the broking division.
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with insurers, negotiating competitive terms to secure the best deals for clients.
  • Actively engaging in trading, leveraging your technical expertise and market insights to negotiate and close deals for renewals and new business.
  • Although this role does not involve direct line management, you will play a crucial role in setting the tone, mentoring brokers, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to guide strategic decisions and identify new opportunities.
  • Collaborating closely with Appointed Representatives to understand and meet the insurance needs of their clients, providing expert advice to exceed expectations.
  • Providing guidance on complex risk scenarios and insurance solutions, using your strong technical knowledge to support ARs, clients, and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a senior broking placement role within the commercial insurance sector, preferably with a focus on mid-market or corporate risks.
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and market practices.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain high-level relationships with both insurers and clients.
  • Exceptional negotiation and trading skills, with a successful track record of closing deals.
  • Strategic mindset with the capability to develop and execute effective broking strategies.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACII or equivalent are highly desirable.
