Part Time Legal Advisor: Charity Sector: World Energy Co

Exciting opportunity for a qualified Legal Advisor to join the independant Charitable Foundation for a leading global Energy company on a part time basis 10-14 hours a week

Initially this role will be 10-14 hours a week, to be worked at standard times as mutually agreed.

The role is based in the UK and candidates must be able to attend the London office during agreed hours when required (likely one day per week).

Role Summary:

  • The role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, from charity law to commercial legal guidance, contracting and ethics & compliance.
  • Provide top-tier commercial legal advice to support the Foundation's social investment programme. Lead and support the contracting function to efficiently and effectively draft agreements with external parties, ensuring the Foundation has all desirable and required protections
  • Advise teams across the organisation to ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements at all times
  • Support teams in exiting contracts and funding arrangements in a controlled and compliant manger where necessary.
  • Support Ethics & Compliance function to meet the highest standards across our work
  • Coordinate efficient collaboration with external legal advisors across five jurisdictions and manage ongoing selection and performance of external legal resources

Requirements:

  • Qualified UK solicitor with substantial post-qualification experience.
  • Broad legal expertise, particularly in financial investments, contracts and ideally data protection and ethics & compliance.
  • Some experience in drafting and managing financial investment agreements, ideally in debt and funds (the Foundation is often a LP in such arrangements)
  • Charity law knowledge is a plus.
  • Willingness and desire to quickly get up to speed in this area is a must.

This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
