Job Title: Environmental Health Officer (Residential)
Location: Hybrid - Office-based with potential for 1-2 days remote working per week
Work Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday

About the Role:

We're looking for a skilled Environmental Health Officer with a solid background in the housing sector to join our dedicated team. This role focuses on maintaining and improving residential housing standards by managing a varied caseload, including complaints related to damp, mould, overcrowding, and more. If you're someone who can "hit the ground running," organize tasks efficiently, and close cases promptly, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle and manage a caseload of housing-related complaints and licensing cases.
  • Conduct residential inspections, addressing issues like substandard conditions, overcrowding, and safety concerns.
  • Serve formal notices or issue closing letters post-inspection, ensuring clear communication with both residents and landlords.
  • Provide expert advice on housing standards, legal obligations, and remedial actions.
  • Ensure timely and effective case closure, maintaining a high level of service quality.

About You:

You'll bring hands-on experience in housing environmental health, with strong regulatory enforcement skills and an ability to manage cases independently. You should be comfortable working both on-site and remotely, balancing inspections with administrative work.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A degree in Environmental Health is highly desirable, but HHSRS (Housing Health and Safety Rating System) qualification is essential.
  • Proven experience in housing inspections, case management, and enforcement.
  • Excellent communication skills for providing clear advice to residents and landlords.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently.

What We Offer:

  • A dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A hybrid working arrangement, allowing for a balance between on-site duties and remote administrative tasks.
  • Supportive team culture with a focus on making a tangible difference in residential housing standards.
  • Flexible working options to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Why Join Us?

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Environmental Health Officer who is passionate about driving positive change in residential housing standards. You'll be part of a proactive team, working collaboratively to improve living conditions and ensure compliance with housing regulations.
