We are looking for a Junior Asset Investment Engineer to join our friendly team in Coventry.

Asset management is at the heart of our business and this is an opportunity to join our growing asset management community working on a key area of our business. We are looking for an individual with energy, a problem solver who can digest data, analyse it and then communicate it with a variety of stakeholders. A can do attitude and a desire to learn and improve things are essential.

The area we need your focus on will be to review, maintain and iteratively improve our mains and services models to support our wider business decision making in relation to risk, cost and performance.

Role details:

  • **Location:**Ansty Park - Coventry (onsite full time)
  • Contract: 6 month temporary worker via Reed, with the opportunity of extension
  • **Hourly pay rate:**£18.45 per hour
  • Working hours: 37.5h per week - 8am - 4pm
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Recruitment process: telephone call with Reed followed by an onsite interview with Cadent Gas

Day to Day:

  • Deliver work efficiently, with precision and within agreed process, procedure and timescales.
  • Be inquisitive with an interest in developing existing skill set and learning new skills.
  • Share, promote and facilitate/implement technical and procedural best practice across our network asset risk modelling processes.
  • Analysis of large data sets
  • Demonstrate an inclusive work ethic.
  • Provide additional support to the wider asset investment team.

More detailed areas:

  • Responsible for building and maintaining monetised risk models in line with our license obligations 3.1 and 9.2, identify the most effective combination of interventions to meet the business outcomes
  • Responsible for applying Asset Management knowledge to cleanse, collate and manipulate complex data sets from multiple sources and systems in order to show the monetised risk reduction on completed and planned investment work
  • Understand the difference between diversity and inclusion and what is meant by creating an inclusive environment
  • Support the development of optimised investment strategies and balanced plans that are achievable, realistic and risk evaluated
  • To clearly document our approach to modelling for your areas of responsibility. This includes Standard Operation Procedures, Change Logs and Internal Quality Documents
  • Day-to-day interaction with external model provider to support the development of asset models for asset performance, deterioration, intervention optimisation and subsequent implementation plans
  • Deliver required table and support narrative development for annual Ofgem Regulatory Reporting Pack (RRP) complying with internal assurance processes (Data Assurance Guidance)
  • Provide analysis to support the asset investment strategy to meet Gas Distribution's commitment to environmental safety and sustainability, achieving regulatory and government targets

What You'll Bring:

  • Data and information management skills, with keen attention to detail (Strong Excel Experience)
  • SQL Programming Language understanding
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Experience of working within a team of technical and business analysts and engineers (Optional)
  • Basic understanding of operational principles of gas distribution assets
  • Ability to develop good understanding of Asset Management principles and interdependencies between asset management roles, policies, and systems
  • Basic understanding and awareness of statistics and economics
  • Quantitative analytical skills (Ability to manipulate complex data to produce tangible outputs that influence business decisions)
  • Ability to produce and deliver outputs on complex issues in a clear and concise manner for internal and external audiences
