Project Buyer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Procurement Department in cross-functional teams driving New Product Introduction (NPI) and research projects, ensuring strict adherence to timelines, quality standards, and cost constraints.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to align supplier outputs with project requirements.
  • Identify potential vendors, issue RFQs and RFIs, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions, ensuring vendor capabilities meet project needs.
  • Track supplier progress to guarantee on-time delivery of tooling and samples at the required quality levels. Lead technical reviews with suppliers and design teams to confirm manufacturability, ensure comprehension of drawings, and secure supplier acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality to resolve quality and delivery issues related to purchased components, applying the 8D process for effective problem resolution.
  • Propose sourcing options to guide decision-making, advise engineering teams on component selections, and ensure timely approval of all purchased parts to meet project schedules.
  • Ensure vendors possess the necessary production capacity and tools. Work closely with planners to ensure supply chain readiness for Development Validation and Manufacturing stages.
  • Support the design process during the Design Validation stage, maintaining close collaboration with planners to ensure proper supply chain alignment.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or mechanical engineering, with a strong understanding of various manufacturing processes.
  • Relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with APQP processes and gate reviews.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and forecasting, as well as PowerPoint for presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing procurement projects through NPI or VAVE (Value Analysis and Value Engineering) programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers.
  • Capacity to thrive in fast-paced environments, manage multiple priorities, and proactively resolve issues.

  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards relevant to supply chain and procurement processes.
