New Business Principal Manufacturing Engineer

If you enjoy delivering change and working in a variable environment we have an opportunity to be the Manufacturing Engineering lead in the Manufacturing Industrial Policy team. You will be delivering both tactical and strategic objectives for Manufacturing and the wider business.

Job Title: Business Principal Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: Circa £48,000 depending on experience

Location: Bolton

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

An exciting new opportunity has become available within the New Business area for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join the team. This position will be responsible for providing the Manufacturing Engineering focus within the New Business Team representing the department at various forums to engage with key stakeholder sand promote the department.

The opportunity also allows an individual to grow their knowledge within manufacturing as part of development into potential future opportunities. This role will give an individual into the front end aspects of the business from initial bids through to delivery and also be both internally and externally focussed.

The tasks will be both tactical and strategic providing stretched objectives for personal growth and appreciation of the wider business.

Role requirements (skills, training and qualifications):

  • Formal Technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21

AND

  • Formal further education certificate to HNC Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject

OR

  • BEng in relevant Engineering Degree

Also:

  • Able to work with minimum supervision:
  • Be highly motivated and enthusiastic, to create/maintain a high performing team
  • Be a recognised point of contact for manufacturing enquiries through the deployed team
  • Must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and commitment to work to meet our delivery milestones.
  • Have the ability to interpret Design Drawings with a view to producing Manufacturing Build Instructions.
  • Must be confident in communication skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Extensive knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering and the relevant processes involved and the manufacturing capability required for the MBDA product range.
  • Working alongside the industrial transfer PM to generate a robust cost base estimate for manufacturing
  • Identification of supporting function requirements to ensure a successful industrial transfer programme
  • Delivery of Industrial Transfer Programmes i.a.w. business and customer expectations
  • Interface between the external stakeholders and the manufacturing organisation to ensure a smooth and efficient transfer programme is achieved
  • Manufacturing Engineering support to the identification & validation of offload opportunities (Predominantly development & series production focused) working with the Manufacturing offload Project manager
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to the Manufacturing Business Management Team
  • Drive a consistent approach in manufacturing transfer of technology (T.o.T.) bidding and delivery
