Finance Assistant

Our client is seeking a Finance Assistant who will play a crucial role in supporting the finance department by performing various administrative tasks. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This position is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a desire to grow within the finance sector. Our finance team works remotely with in-person meetings at our headquarters in Alton, Hampshire.

What we are looking for - Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records, and provide other administrative support necessary to pay the obligations of the Company.
  • Process accounts receivable invoices and manage and record customer payments.
  • Bank Reconciliations:
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded, and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including data entry of financial transactions into accounting software.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
  • Financial Analysis:
  • Support the finance team in conducting financial analysis and preparing reports as required.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Compliance and Audit:
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance department, including filing, correspondence, and other admin tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required:

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
  • Understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of NetSuite is desirable.

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Finance Assistant, Accounting Assistant, or similar role.
  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience with payroll processing and bank reconciliations.

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to conduct financial analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant educational background in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., AAT, ACCA) are an advantage but not mandatory.
