At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people. At the IET you'll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you'll grow - professionally and personally - in ways you never thought possible. We're also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will play a key part in the development of the IET's open access journal portfolio, driving the growth, quality, and impact of several high-profile titles. You will work closely with external editors, editorial boards, and partners to implement strategic development plans for each journal. Your responsibilities will include building and nurturing high-performing editorial boards, proactively commissioning special issues, and working with the editorial and production teams at Wiley to ensure publication targets are met. Additionally, you will contribute to the IET's mission of promoting open research by sharing best practices, attending scientific conferences, and raising the IET's profile across the industry. By collaborating with the marketing and journal development teams, you'll ensure the ongoing relevance, reputation, and success of the IET's journals in a competitive landscape.

What we hope you can bring to the role

We are looking for someone with experience in managing STM journals, particularly with a focus on open access publishing. You'll need to have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as this role involves collaborating with editors, authors, and stakeholders. Proven knowledge of the publishing process, the ability to interpret data and market trends, and excellent time management skills are essential to succeed in this fast-paced environment. As a self-driven and proactive individual, you'll contribute to the strategic growth of our journals while being a team player who thrives on collaboration. Additionally, a strong understanding of the open access landscape and the ability to develop strategies that increase journal quality and impact will be key to your success in this role.
