We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role involves comprehensive bookkeeping responsibilities, including managing trial balance, control accounts, reconciliations, and credit control. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using SAGE 200 and have experience in handling various accounting and administrative tasks efficiently.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Check bank statements and update the cashbook for all currencies daily.
  • Process purchase/bought ledger invoices, including printing, retrieving, posting, and inputting invoices/credits on SAGE 200 with accurate coding.
  • Ensure invoices align with purchase orders/GRNs and are authorised according to company procedures.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs and cash flow forecasts.
  • Upload payments on HSBCnet and manage the allocation of payments received and sent.
  • Communicate with suppliers via phone or email and handle queries effectively.
  • Maintain AP ledgers, spreadsheets, and reports, ensuring accuracy in VAT amounts and ledger statements.
  • Assist in preparing VAT/EC Sales/Intrastat returns and processing staff credit card expenses.
  • Prepare monthly commission reports and customer credit notes.
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Assets Register and issue intercompany invoices.
  • Conduct month-end procedures and generate various financial reports.
  • Handle administrative duties related to account openings and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounts management.
  • Strong familiarity with SAGE 200 and other ERP systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external clients.
