What ASEND Tuition Is
We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Newham. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.
About the role
We are looking for a tutor to support a 19-year-old man in Newham. Our pupil has severe learning difficulties, is Autistic and has ADHD. He also has a rare medical condition which can sometimes pose difficulties for him and he needs support in developing non-verbal communication. Despite these challenges, he is a bright young man who has made great progress in his communication, as he is now able to understand simple words and phrases and enjoys spelling. He has good visual memory which also helps with his spelling.
The ideal tutor should have experience working with severe learning difficulties and have a good understanding of non-verbal communication methods, such as PECS. Someone who has had experience supporting pupils in transitioning into adulthood would also be essential, to help develop life skills and independence.
