Senior Communities and Prevention Officer

This role has a starting salary of £45,680 per annum, working 36 hours per week.

We are excited to be hiring a new Senior Communities and Prevention Officer to join our fantastic Communities and Prevention team. This hybrid role will lead the Adult Social Care Social Value project - a Department of Health and Social Care funded transformation initiative.

This is an 18-month fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity. Part-time applications will be considered.

About the Team
The Communities and Prevention Team sits within the Adults, Wellbeing and Health Partnership directorate. The team of 15 people works across the wider determinants of Health to promote prevention and early intervention, helping residents to remain healthy and independent for as long as possible.

Our supportive team strives to be inclusive, develop accessible community support, work collaboratively and achieve high performance. The team is delivering on a range of projects from hyper-local community initiatives to national vanguards in partnership with central government. We have a continuous learning and development approach, helping all team members to recognise their skills and achieve their best. The team was shortlisted for "Surrey Stars" awards in both 2022 and 2023.

About the Role
We are looking for an innovative and experienced Project Officer to deliver a transformational approach to income generation in social care. You will deliver a pioneering approach to leverage more than £1m in social value from business in Surrey to support the delivery of discretionary social care-related activity, especially that provided by the community sector. This will play a critical role in developing sustainable support for residents.

We are looking for someone passionate about Surrey County Council's ambition to see no one left behind, who can innovate and persevere to bring about systemic change. They will form collaborative partnerships with the business sector to achieve more for Surrey residents.

In this role you will work collaboratively and inclusively across the local system, including with health, community and business sector partners. You will identify priority areas for resourcing, and develop a scalable model to mobilise social value support in response. Your approach will deliver a strengths-based approach to the pressures faced by social care services.

Under your management, the programme will deliver on time and to budget, securing £1m in social value during the project period.

You will be required to travel around the County to meet the community and partners in various locations. In line with SCC policy, efforts will be made to reduce the travel required where possible.

Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, think creatively and set up new initiatives
  • Proven ability to build relationships, network and work in cross-functional and cross-organisational teams
  • Systemic understanding of the work and health context, and evidence of persistence and the ability to overcome obstacles to deliver innovation and change
  • Experience working with the business sector
  • The ability to travel around the county and to attend some scheduled evening meetings to meet the demands of the role
