Group Finance Director

An excellent Group Finance Director opportunity at the cutting edge of the renewable energy sector, reporting directly to the CFO. Based in Bristol with a flexible hybrid working model, you'll work three days a week in their modern office. This is a crucial role in an Infrastructure Investment Manager renowned for expertise in acquiring and managing operational renewable energy assets, particularly in solar and wind power.

Purpose of the Role:

The Group Finance Director is responsible for UK and European internal financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and SPV asset accounting and reporting. This role involves providing strategic financial support, focusing on value creation for the Group and its managed portfolio of assets, and exhibiting core behaviours.

Role Evolution:

The role and the finance team will evolve over time. The business is embarking on exciting change and transformation projects, aiming to rejuvenate and create a finance function that is more commercial, analytical, and value-add.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Internal Controls and Risk Management:

o Maintain effective internal controls and risk management to protect shareholders' financial interests and ensure efficient cash generation.

2. Financial Reporting:

o Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial activities across all European entities, including preparing forecasts and monitoring actual performance versus forecast.

3. Portfolio Asset Management:

o Oversee the financial reporting and control of all managed portfolio assets, including effective cash management.

4. Strategic and Financial Input:

o Provide strategic and financial input on planned future activities of the Group in the UK, Europe, and other potential jurisdictions.

5. Finance Raising and Compliance:

o Manage the raising of finance and ensure compliance with resulting reporting requirements.

6. Profitability and Tax Efficiency:

o Implement initiatives to improve profitability and minimise the UK group tax liability for both the company's entities and managed assets.

7. Team Leadership and Development:

o Lead and develop the finance team across all locations to ensure effective operations meeting the growing needs of the business and managed portfolio.

8. Ad Hoc Projects:

o Support shareholders and leadership team members with ad hoc projects, including financial due diligence on potential acquisitions.

9. Partnership with Asset and Investment Teams:

o Collaborate with the asset management and investment teams to align financial strategies with operational and investment goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • ACCA / CIMA / ACA

Required Experience:

  • Proven leadership in a dynamic, growing business with strategic input;
  • Management and development of finance teams across multiple locations;
  • Experience at Board level, providing effective, accurate, and timely financial information (both historical and forward-looking);
  • Expertise in European entity project financial reporting;
  • Understanding and experience in Fund Accounting, Corporate Accounting and Special Purpose Vehicles (or at least two of the three).
