Assistant Merchandiser

Assistant Merchandiser required for my premium retail client outlines a role that supports the Buying Office (B.O) to achieve sales plans through effective planning, strategic analysis, stock management, and execution of strategic activities. Here are the key points:

Job Purpose:

Support B.O: Assist and support the Buying Office to achieve sales plans across all regions.

Key Accountabilities:

Sales and Profit (35%):
Assist the Merchandising team to achieve seasonal sales and profit targets.

Collaborate with the Buying team to establish a range of merchandise suited to each region's customer profile.

Use weekly departmental performance analysis to take actions that maximise profits.

Forecast sales and intake on department WSSI and manage continuity business.

Ensure timely deliveries and optimised stock levels with the retail team.

Communication (30%):

Deputise for the Merchandiser in trading and planning meetings.

Develop vendor relationships to influence trading opportunities.

Ensure clear communication within the team and alignment with department goals.

Keep the wider business informed of department priorities.

Data and Merchandise Management (20%):

Prepare weekly performance reports and highlight key findings.

Produce insightful analysis for strategy development.

Assist in range planning to ensure a balanced range in line with strategy.

Complete seasonal markdowns to maximise margins.

Manage stock transfers and RTV agreements to meet closing stock targets.

Team Management (15%):

Manage and develop any MAAs (Merchandising Admin Assistants) on the team.

Provide on-the-job coaching and identify training opportunities.

Monitor and review performance, including appraisals.
