Position: ESOL Teacher (Full-Time)

About the School: A primary school, based in Dagenham, dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Teacher to join the team and help support the diverse student body.

Being a short walk from Dagenham Heathway Station, the primary school is easily accessible via public transport.

Role Overview: We are seeking a full-time ESOL Teacher to join a primary school, based in Dagenham, starting in September 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective teaching strategies to support students whose first language is not English, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality ESOL lessons tailored to the needs of primary school students.
  • Assess students' language abilities and progress, providing feedback and setting appropriate goals.
  • Develop and use a variety of instructional materials and resources to facilitate language acquisition.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support language development across the curriculum.
  • Provide a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and support strategies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialization in ESOL or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching ESOL to primary-aged students.
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in ESOL education.
