The Company

Oakglen is a group of investment and operating companies with interests across the UK, Channel Islands, Europe and the North America in the wealth management, real estate, private equity and financial services sectors.

In wealth management, Oakglen Wealth is a fast-growing discretionary investment manager operating in Jersey and the UK with clients globally.

In real estate, LBS Properties specialises in delivering high-quality, large-scale residential and office projects in Central London. LBS has been responsible for the delivery of over 1,300 private and affordable homes and 400,000 square feet of office space since 2012 and works with both private and institutional capital partners.

In private equity, Oakglen's Technology & Innovation fund invests growth capital, with a focus on financial technology and operational real estate. Oakglen typically takes a lead investor role in the companies it invests in and believes in an actively managed approach.

In financial services, Oakbridge provides corporate and fund administration services, including accounting and company secretarial services, predominantly in Jersey.

The Role

We are looking for a candidate who will fully integrate themselves across all our businesses and lead in the development of group-wide financial reporting and management. You will be taking ownership of the finance function and have two financial controllers reporting directly to you, as well as being the primary accounting interface with several portfolio companies across the technology and real estate sectors.

Your role will lead or supervise on the budgeting, forecasting and information management needs for all Oakglen businesses and you will provide critical information to inform strategic decision making across the group.

You will report directly to the Co-CEOs and form part of the group senior management team.

You will be responsible for controlling and managing all aspects of the finance function, including:

  • Preparation of consolidated group accounts.
  • Leading group and various subsidiary audits including regulated entities.
  • Leading on tax matters across the group.
  • Preparation of monthly consolidated group management accounts for the board.
  • Development of dynamic management reporting tools.
  • Implementation of robust procedures and controls for all finance team workstreams.
  • Liaison with external advisers for:

o Audit process for group and various subsidiaries

o Preparation and submission of tax returns for UK, Jersey and US companies

o Local corporate, income and sales tax returns where required

  • Oversight of the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Managing and mentoring two financial controllers.
  • Oversight of the monitoring and management of subsidiary regulatory capital requirements and reporting.
  • Assist with M&A and financing activities of the group including management of external advisors.

The candidate

You will be a fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with experience in senior stakeholder engagement, ideally within an FCA regulated business such as wealth management. You will have excellent communication and people skills and will not be afraid of explaining technical concepts in a straightforward manner to senior stakeholders.

Experience of wealth management or other FCA regulated businesses would be highly beneficial. A deep understanding of accounting complicated P&Ls across a range of varied businesses is essential.
