Bid Manager

My client is looking for an experienced Bid Manager to work 30 hours over 4 days per week. The salary for 4 days is £40,000 to £45,000 per annum

  • To lead the end-to-end bid management process, including opportunity identification, qualification and proposal submission.
  • To develop and execute bid strategies that align with the Company's goals and customer requirements.
  • To manage the bid proposal in line with budget, resources, products and services.
  • To ensure compliance with all customer requirements, legal regulations and international standards.
  • To uphold an understanding of market trends and competitor activity to inform bid strategy.

Key Responsibilities of a Bid Manager

  • Reviewing bid invitations, conducting bid/no-bid analysis and establishing appropriate timelines.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and subject matter experts, including sales, technical, legal, ISO, finance and HR, to gather all required information to develop the bid strategy and proposal.
  • Coordinating and facilitating bid meetings, ensuring key stakeholders provide input and concerns and issues are addressed.
  • Working with sales/commercial teams to develop competitive pricing strategies that align with bid requirements and profitability targets.
  • Coordinating with legal and compliance teams to ensure bid proposals meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing compelling and persuasive bid content, including executive summaries, value propositions, pricing models and technical responses, as appropriate.
  • Managing time-lines to ensure high-quality bids are submitted on time.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate bid documentation, including bid files, records of communication and pricing information.
  • Monitoring and tracking bid performance metrics, analysing win/loss data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Conducting post-bid debrief sessions to discuss areas of improvement and implement lessons learned for future bids.
  • Continuously refining and improving the bid processes, templates and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Staying up to date on industry trends, market insights and emerging best practices in bid management.

Key Competencies of a Bid Manager

  • 5+ years experience as a bid manager or a similar role.
  • Experience in managing bids for complex projects or large-scale contracts.
  • Knowledge of UK public sector procurement processes, regulations and frameworks.
  • Demonstrable success in winning bids through effective bid management.
  • Understanding of pricing strategies and financial analysis in bid development.
  • Strong understanding of the bid lifecycle, from bid submission, development and contract negotiation.
  • High standard of MS Office skills.
  • Proficiency in using bid management software (Desirable)
