Class 1 Shunter
Location: Leicester
Menzies Distribution are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter to join our team in Leicester (LE7 7NL). This is onsite shunting using a TUG comuting between 2 warehouses, therefore the successful applicant must have a LGV/HGV Class 1 licence as will be going on the highway for short distances.
What You Really Need To Know:
- Working week: Monday to Friday
- Salary: £34,255.36 Per Annum
- Hours: 06:00-18:00
- Must be Tug/Terberg trained
- This role is operating outside in all weathers
- This a physcially dem anding role
HGV Driver/Shunter Duties:
- Shunting duties
- Closing and Opening Curtains
- General driving duties, observing current legal and best practice delivering and collection to/from our customer's premises or other MDS locations.
- Use of electronic POD and up to date technology (full training provided)
- Assisting with loading and unloading
- Rachet, strap and corner management. (De-strapping occasional loads)
- Working closely with on site customers and FLT drivers
- Monitoring and checking supplied trailers for defects before presenting to load
- 3 Seperate Loading Bays
HGV Driver/Shunter Requirements:
- A full UK C+E licence
- 12 months previous class 1 driving experience
- Previous shunting experience (desirable)
- No more than 6 points on your licence
- No previous disqualifications
- Good knowledge of drivers hours and WTD regulations
- This can be reasonably physical so we ask for this to be considered when applying.
