We are currently recruiting for a Development Underwriter on behalf of our client, one of the leading brands in the UK insurance market.
Joining an established and high performing team, you will help to lead the profitable growth of a panel of Brokers within the Midlands and South West, engaging them both in-person and virtually, and delivering complex underwriting solutions for their clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Being recognised as an experienced Underwriter within your region by your Brokers by dealing with large complex renewals, MTAs, and new business.
- Leading on underwriting surgeries on behalf of the branch across the Midlands and South West area.
- Developing close, effective relationships with Brokers in order to develop new opportunities across open market business and schemes, thereby contributing to the growth of the branch.
- Winning, retaining and underwriting larger, more complex cases both consistently and profitably.
- Leading, setting and executing the local underwriting strategy for your specialist area, in conjunction with the management team.
- Influencing underwriting management to support your Brokers on the right business.
- Ensuring that the target retention rate for the regional Broker panel is achieved, taking a lead on cases yourself.
- Increasing submission and conversion numbers through large client prospecting.
- Identifying and implementing underwriting process efficiencies within the team.
Key Requirements
- Candidates must have previous experience in Professional Indemnity and/or Property & Casualty Underwriting.
- Experience of managing and interacting with insurance brokers.
- Ability to act as the referral point for larger, more complex cases.
- Strong communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills.
