New Tyne (Adults Residential Service) based in Durrington, focuses on providing the right balance of the individuality, needs, wishes and rights of each of our residents. We're looking a Housekeeper to join our team on a part time basis.

The role

Salary: £11.59 per hour (£12,089 Annual salary)
Working Pattern: 20 hours p/w (Day shifts with weekends on rotation)

Contract Length: Permanent
Location: New Tyne, Worthing

Your responsibilities in the role:

  • Maintain the home to a high standard of cleanliness in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Cleaning residential rooms including communal areas, offices, kitchens, and bathrooms.
  • It's an active role - for example, you'll be lifting or carrying equipment as required.
  • You will need to be flexible and comfortable with undertaking weekend working on a rota with other housekeepers to ensure the needs of the service is fulfilled.

About You

To become a Housekeeper with us you will be:

  • Have a keen eye for maintaining cleanliness and order.
  • Take pride in your work and be aware that your will be working in the home of the people we support.
  • A good listener, patient, respectful, kind and treat all people with dignity.
  • Good English skills to communicate with the people we care for, their families and the team.
  • Have an awareness of health & safety and show a common-sense approach to your work.

About New Tyne

Here we support people with Dementia in the Worthing area providing long stay and short breaks. We provide a wide range of activities to encourage and stimulate people through outcome-based person-centred care promoting independence and wellbeing. Some of the ways we support those we care for include reminiscence, gentle exercise, arts, crafts, and conversation-based activities. Regularly supporting activities throughout the year such as themed parties and fund-raising events.

Skills

These will used to short list candidates to interview so please ensure these are clear to see in your application and your CV.

  • Ability to undertake a wide range of cleaning tasks.
  • Able to communicate effectively with the people we care for, staff and visitors.
  • Flexible approach to allocated duties and work as part of a team.
  • Sensitive to the needs of those we care for.

Qualifications and/ experience:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations. Desirable
  • Experience of using a range of cleaning equipment including powered equipment. Desirable
  • Experience of working as a cleaner in paid employment. Desirable
