Academics, an educational recruitment agency, is seeking a Catering Assistant for one of our partner schools in Barnsley. This temporary Catering Assistant role starts ASAP and runs until October half-term, with the possibility of an extension. Main Responsibilities:
- As a Catering Assistant, you will prepare, cook, and serve food to pupils, staff, and visitors.
- Ensure the kitchen, surrounding areas, and all equipment are kept clean and safe.
- Provide efficient and polite service while fostering good customer relations.
- Collaborate with staff to create a pleasant dining experience.
- Attend meetings or training to support best practices in the team.
- Promote the school's objectives by delivering high-quality and efficient service.
- Primarily work in the kitchen, but as a Catering Assistant, you'll also be flexible to support other areas if required.
Requirements of the Role:
- A good standard of written and oral communication skills.
- Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
- Awareness of food safety regulations.
- Experience working with food and general kitchen procedures.
- Able to work well with children, adults, and staff.
- Capable of working as part of a team or on your own initiative.
- Commitment to personal and team development.
- Ability to maintain a calm and positive working environment.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
