We are looking for passionate and dedicated Midwives to be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary professional team to provide excellent care for women and their families across South West England.

Job Summary:

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of autonomous, evidence-based, women-centred midwifery care, whilst working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, other agencies, representatives, and service users. The post holder will provide support to other midwives within the service. This may include a management responsibility for the midwifery practice or team without the Band 7 Midwife.

Description:

The Midwifery Practitioner will work as part of a midwifery team providing care and advice to women during pregnancy, labour, childbirth, and postnatal care for women and babies in various settings such as the home, community, hospitals, and Children's Centres.

He/She has the knowledge and skills to care for women during their childbirth experience and is accountable for their practice.

He/She will work closely with obstetric colleagues when complications arise to ensure safe practice in whatever setting the mother chooses.

Working as part of a midwifery team, the post holder will contribute to the future development of the maternity service through participation in development initiatives.

The post is not area-specific; all trust employees will work as appropriate to the needs of the service.

Requirements:

  • Valid NMC registration as a Midwife.
  • Proven experience in midwifery practice.
  • Proficient level of theoretical midwifery knowledge.
  • Experience of working in all clinical areas.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of students, Midwives, and oneself.
  • Communication skills - able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions, adapting communication style as needed and working with and through others.
