Assistant Warehouse Manager

Summary:

At Bis Henderson, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to join a growing team in Skelmersdale within an FMCG environment.

Reporting into the Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the time-sensitive operations and ensuring compliance to processes and procedures. You will lead a team of Warehouse Operatives, along with two Supervisors, managing the picking and packing of orders for dispatch. Alongside this, your role involves providing guidance and support to team members to ensure that they are working to their full potential and achieving their goals. Applicants need to be highly motivated, have strong people management skills and possess a high attention to detail.

This role is working weekly rotating shifts of earlies (6am-3pm) and lates (1:30pm-10:30pm) Monday - Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and motivate a team of warehouse staff, creating a positive and high-performance work culture.
  • Carry out daily team briefings and attend management meetings to assess team performance.
  • Oversee, monitor and optimise warehouse operations, including receiving, order picking, packing, and dispatch, to achieve maximum efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Ensure that all inventory is accounted for and stored correctly.
  • Train and develop team members, providing guidance and support to improve individual and overall team performance.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years' experience managing teams within a warehouse operation, ideally in a FMCG environment.
  • Proven experience at Warehouse Assistant Manager or Warehouse Shift Manager level.
  • A thorough understanding of inventory control and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Proven track record of driving operational efficiencies and meeting KPIs, with an understanding of 5S processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • PC Literate in Microsoft software (outlook, excel, power point).
