Practical Support Assistant

Randstad Student & Worker Support are looking for a reliable and committed Practical Support Assistant to support a student studying at the University of Glasgow.

Working as a Practical Support Assistant at the University of Glasgow, you will be supporting a student studying Veterinary Medicine, and support will be based at both Cochno Farm, as well as on campus at the University. The student requires support with:

  • Navigating around both the Farm and Campus
  • Opening doors
  • Getting over door steps
  • Getting over ramps
  • Anything else practical the student requires

You may also attend various lectures and seminars, and assist the student within an academic setting.

Please note, with some support being conducted on a farm, although you will not be supporting with handling of the animals, you will be around animals such as Cattle, so you must be comfortable around animals.

Responsibilities:

Providing Practical Support Assistance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a professional role as an Assistant and being aware of the need to maintain this professional relationship with the student at all times.
  • Acting in the best interests of learners at all times whilst also working within the policies and procedures of the Institution.

You will work closely with Randstad regarding the needs of the individual student, and to ensure that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner. You will be expected to act professionally and maintain confidentiality within your role at all times, sharing all relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.

Requirements:

  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Flexible
  • Great organisational skills
  • Ideally, you will have experience in supporting disabled students in a Higher or Further education setting
