Job Description:

We are seeking compassionate and motivated SEN Teachers to work across various SEN schools and alternative provisions in Southampton. Whether you are looking for day-to-day, short-term, or long-term placements, we have a range of opportunities to suit your availability and career goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Delivering Lessons: Design and implement engaging and effective lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Individualised Support: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, ensuring their unique learning needs are met.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and track students' progress, adapting teaching methods and materials as necessary to support their development.
  • Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting social and emotional development alongside academic progress.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and parents to develop and implement effective strategies for each student.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest SEN teaching practices and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential for this role.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs in a mainstream or SEN school.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEN best practices and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience and Empathy: A compassionate approach, with the ability to remain patient and empathetic in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to different school environments and varying lengths of placements.
