Our client, a professional membership body is currently recruiting for a Membership & Professional Standard Manager.

The role of the Membership & Professional Standard Manager

Ensuring best practice in professional standards and licence requirements, the Membership and Professional Standards Manager will ensure adherence to both the organisation and regulatory requirements in order to maintain standards, licences and the reputation of the institution, and provide subject matter expertise on qualifications related matters, spanning educational base, initial professional development and competence requirements.

  • Manage and provide application support for the institution, Fellow and engineering applications.
  • Hold responsibility for the processing and assessment of applications for the institution, Fellow and Engineering grades of membership.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of the Membership Strategy, in particular with reference of activities related to Professional Standards and external licencing.
  • Oversee the operation of the Professional Standards Committee, Engineering Standards Committee and Qualifications Panel and administration by the Registrations Officer.
  • Ensure compliance related to licensing requirements to staff and members (including Assessors, Interviewers and Professional Standards Committee), including assessing any proposed changes against compliance requirements.
  • Proactively manage the Professional Standards Committee Action List.
  • Facilitate updates to regulations and track them to approval/completion.
  • Provide oversight to the Registrations Officer in the management of qualification checks and individual route applicants for engineering registrations.
  • Advise on matters relating to international/mutual recognition agreements relating to registration.
  • Work with their content function to ensure published information, guidance and application forms align with current regulation and professional standards.
  • Work with the Director of Membership to maintain strong relationships with the external licencing bodies. Supporting periodic licence reviews, licence applications, completion of annual regulator reports and promotion of activities.
  • Support engagement and promotional activities on the routes to professional registration to existing non-registrants and non-members through their digital and in person activities.

About you

Person Specification

  • Manage time and resources effectively and efficiently, prioritising where necessary to meet deadlines, and with minimal supervision.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships internally and externally, including with volunteers.
  • Commitment to continual improvement - proactive in seeking to improve processes.
  • Experience of professional membership, standards and registration.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and engage effectively within a team as well as with external stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of CRM systems and reporting.
  • Excellent written and spoken English with close attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience working with the Engineering Council, Science Council or Society for the Environment.
  • Experience of international agreements regarding registration.
  • A good understanding of, or interest in, environmental issues.
