At MSV Housing we're committed to making sure our customers are provided with excellent customer service and our Head of Procurement is key to making this happen.

We are looking to recruit an experienced procurement professional with fantastic negotiating skills to join our established team. Reporting to our Director of Finance, our Head of Procurement will form a pivotal part of the organisation's management team, having the opportunity to develop and influence a wide focus in taking a more commercial approach across all its activities.

About the role

This is a great time to join MSV, as we have a new Executive Director of Finance and Business Excellence with vision to really make a difference for our customers and the business into the future.

The executive team and Board have just launched MSV's new 3-year corporate plan, which has a renewed focus on strengthening our core business and continuing to deliver value for money. This means we want to establish a dedicated procurement function, to give it the attention it deserves into the future; adopt a fresh approach to contract management and to deliver even more social value through our supply chain.

This opportunity couldn't arrive at a more exciting time, as well as developing a new procurement strategy and delivering measurable commercial value, the role will create a new procurement team to cover a central approach to the procurement activities.

MSV have previously managed the procurement of contracts through a variety of operational managers across the business using a mix of external frameworks and external consultancy in key areas of operation. This newly created role of Head of Procurement will create a procurement function and directly report into the Director of Finance.

The Head of Procurement will have the autonomy to establish the function how you see fit, aligned with sector best practice. One of the first requirements of the role will be to recruit a procurement officer to assist in the day-to-day activities and embed new ways of working throughout the organisation.

It is a great opportunity for a capable individual to support and lead in the delivery of a high value pipeline of procurements, creating specific sourcing strategies, category plans with the key aim to deliver value for money and drive social value for our organisation.

MSV spends circa £38m annually on its ongoing operating costs and in the next 5 years MSV is forecasting to spend circa £70m on investment works on its housing stock and circa £280m building and acquiring new homes.

What we are looking for;

  • Negotiation Mastery: Proven experience in negotiating with suppliers, especially in the housing sector.
  • Operational Excellence: Ability to deliver a high standard of day-to-day of procurement management activity across the business ensuring controls are being adhered to.
  • Independent Operator: Thrive in a standalone role, making decisions that shape the future of procurement.
  • Innovative Approach: Explore new sourcing opportunities and partnerships to enhance cost-effectiveness.
  • Contract Management: Oversee contracts in customer service, ensuring renewals are timely and cost-effective and driving social value at the core of the supply chain.

We offer a range of great benefits including:

  • Flexibility on where you work with home working kit provided
  • 33 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and a holiday a buy scheme.
  • Company pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions
  • Company funded access to a health cash plan, where you can claim back costs of everyday health treatments such as optical, dental and much more.
  • Enhanced sick pay with up to 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay
  • Health and Wellbeing Support including an employee assistance programme, free counselling, mental health first aiders and numerous wellbeing initiatives
  • Life assurance subject to being a member of our company pension scheme.
  • Learning and development to support you to develop the skills you need to fulfil your role and progress in your career
  • Commitment to Equality and Inclusion with employee network groups covering anti-racism, LGBTQ+, disability and long-term health conditions, carers, and menopause.

MSV are also committed to supporting you to balance work and life, including with any caring or parental responsibilities you might have, and have a range of flexible working options and wellbeing support available to all colleagues to facilitate this.

If you wish to discuss the roles informally, please contact Nicki Buckley, Director of Finance via email.
