45 Hours Per Week

Shift Details: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:30 pm

Brakes are currently recruiting for a full time Facilities Engineer to join the team in Newhouse Scotland on a permanent basis. If you are a time served engineer in either Mechanical or electrical discipline with FMCG or Logistics we want to hear from you.

As the Facilities Engineer, you'll be working across a multi-temperature site taking care of General Building and Office Maintenance. Your primary function on a daily basis will be to work with the Facilities Manager and other site Managers. This role is an integral part of the facilities team on site, who will support all maintenance activities through condition monitoring schedules, lubrication routines, general engineering duties and site maintenance.

Role and responsibilities –

  • To operate/maintain all site services equipment efficiently as circumstances dictate.

  • To audit, inspect, monitor, adjust and maintain plant and equipment to maintain optimum efficiency.

  • Diagnose and rectify faults, carry out overhaul of equipment, undertake routine and planned maintenance activities to company and regulatory standards.

  • Respond to breakdown and emergency situations that occur within the site.

  • Effective analysis of condition monitoring data and provide recommendations to drive performance, equipment reliability, and energy saving initiatives.

  • External links with equipment suppliers and maintenance experts used to ensure we are in touch with new predictive techniques and product advances.

  • Ensure Criticality analysis is carried out to highlight highest equipment risk areas for focus and the analysis is reviewed on a regular basis.

  • Ensure breakdown analysis takes place after major incidents to establish root causes and develop methods to avoid recurrence.

  • Initiate action resulting from supply failure of any service to process/packaging plan, site equipment or employee facility.

  • Control of Contractors through site safety procedures, (Permit To work, Safe Isolation, Risk Assessments, Method Statements)

  • KPIs to measure Performance

  • Planned work rate percentage – daily and weekly

  • Planned maintenance schedule compliance – daily and weekly

  • Site utilities usage per sq ft - Gas/Electricity/Water/Fuel

Requirements

  • Qualified as a time served Engineer with a NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical/Electrical discipline having obtained experience within a FMCG / logistics operation.
  • Engineering/compliance management background with experience of site/building services and equipment that supports logistics operations
  • Must have experience in operation and maintenance of water treatment, refrigeration equipment, loadings bay equipment, ventilation and air conditioning plant.
  • Good IT literacy including experience of CMMS and excel
  • A strong team player with good communication & decision-making skills
  • Able to work in a calm, controlled and effective manner in a fast-moving environment to provide stability and guidance to the site operations teams
  • Demonstratable strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
