Walters People have currently partnered with a European leading business based in Birmingham city centre in the recruitment of an interim Accounts Payable Team Leader. The role is being recruited on a 6 month FTC paying up to £34k and will offer hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Team Leader:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the agents' accounts payable team with direct line management of 5 staff
  • To ensure that the creditors' ledger is operated accurately, efficiently and to agreed timescale, and ensure that the creditors are paid accurately and on time
  • To ensure smooth operation of the weekly payment runs and adequate checks to ensure that the correct payments are made to the correct creditors
  • Oversee the production of relevant weekly and monthly reports and prepare monthly financial analysis on payments and expenditure to internal stakeholders
  • To be proactive and take initiatives to review and make suggestions to improve processes and procedures in relation to accounting systems, reconciliation processes and procedures and to drive best practice
  • To provide excellent customer service, manage and maintain good relationship with the internal and external stakeholders, in particular our key suppliers

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • At least one years' experience of managing an accounts payables team
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • The ability to build relationships across teams
  • Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
  • Ability to explore/interrogate, understand and improve processes
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills to help resolve queries and issues
  • Strong team management and process management skills.
  • Relevant accounts payable knowledge and experience of control account reconciliations
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
