Engineering Chargehand
- Annual Salary: £49,000 + 10% shift premium
- Location: Maidstone
- Job Type: Full-time, permanent
- Shift: 4 on 4 off
We are seeking an Engineering Chargehand to join an expanding manufacturing maintenance team in Maidstone. This role involves delivering high standards of engineering support and service, providing guidance, and supporting the daily management of the team. The ideal candidate will be innovative, continuously seeking improvements in department efficiencies and ensuring all operations are audit-ready year-round.
Day-to-day of the Engineering Chargehand role:
- Assess breakdowns on production equipment and related plant with shift engineers to determine the level of intervention required and resources needed to support work.
- Ensure all assigned planned maintenance and inspections on plant equipment are completed, including required documentation, demonstrating a commitment to preventative maintenance.
- Complete all works and documentation to an audit-ready standard to comply with site rules and customer requirements.
- Document all temporary repairs as required by site procedure
- Assess required works and plan/delegate tasks to the shift team to ensure works are completed efficiently.
- Proactively identify equipment risks and take action before equipment failure occurs.
Required Skills & Qualifications of the Engineering Chargehand:
- Proven experience in a similar role within an engineering environment.
- Strong practical engineering skills with the ability to assess and repair breakdowns efficiently.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage documentation and maintenance schedules.
- Ability to lead and manage a team, providing support and delegating tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills to interact with team members and management effectively.
