Quality Engineer

Acorn by Synergie are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer for our client, an industry leading Aerospace manufacturer, to join their expanding team in North Devon.

General scope of the role

You will provide quality assurance support to customers, suppliers, partners and internal manufacturing cells and participate in continuous improvement activities to meet industry standards, government regulations and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality customer interface and expertise to assure requirements are understood, including leading complaint resolution and root cause and corrective action execution.
  • Support the manufacturing area relative to the collection and analysis of quality data ensuring product and process quality requirements are implemented through EQMS Policies and Quality Best Practice.
  • Solve technical product/process and business process problems utilising structured approaches such as 8D, Six Sigma etc.
  • Development, implementation, and improvement of the appropriate Quality Management Systems throughout the operation.
  • Participate in the auditing of internal Quality Systems and completes part approval documentation to assure that customer requirements are met in new or modified products and processes.
  • Analyse organisational quality metrics and performs periodic reviews to evaluate results and recommend action plans to close gaps at an operational level.
  • Develop and analyse statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of quality assurance training programs and conducts training.
  • Participate in product development and launch activities including identification of customer expectations, manufacturing and test support, reliability analysis, design reviews, evaluation of test programs, material testing.
  • Provide support in the way of development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions and process audits
  • Develop, implement, and audit inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.
  • Investigate and eliminate causes of quality problems and ensure corrective action is followed
  • Participate in the design, procurement, maintenance, and evaluation of gages, measurement instruments, devices and test equipment

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in using database systems and Microsoft packages Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint etc.
  • Effective communication both verbal and written.
  • Experience of problem-solving methods-i.e. Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry and customer specific quality registration schemes and certification processes (i.e., ISO9001, EASA Part 21, AS9100 etc).
  • Detailed knowledge of System and process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of product and end user application/specifications, including product testing requirements. (design/process interface)
  • Understanding of engineering design and product reliability concepts and tool sets
