Process Engineer - Manufacturing

Purpose of Role:

To support our ongoing expansion and investment in the latest technologies in Injection Moulding, Extrusion, PU Formulation & Rotational Moulding we are looking to recruit a Process Engineer on a permanent basis.

As a member of the Process Engineer Team, you will be responsible for Implementing a more cohesive and efficient approach to existing technical procedures and new product and process introduction.
Develop process metrics and set up systems for tracking and monitoring and present data and recommendations to management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements. Develop ideas to improve the safety and environmental integrity of the process.
  • Work with the Production Manager to monitor and improve OEE from the key processes.
  • Develop and apply systems for ongoing assessment and improvement of current and new products.
  • Cycle time reduction conducted in a methodical manner.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to reduce scrap levels and improve OEE levels.
  • Offer technical expertise and support to production and other Operations areas as required.
  • Contribute to new projects and new product introduction including calculating the IMM requirements for new products and machinery.
  • Serve as the technical contact and expert for the process engineering function.
  • Become an expert in the equipment, process, and associated products. Completing D.O.E. for all processes where necessary. SMED introduction.
  • Qualify new equipment and processes through written plans, statistically based conclusions, and multifunctional review of documents.
  • Train and develop the Technician Team, working with the Training Manger to identify and close any skills gaps and to meet ongoing training requirements.
  • Encourage a continuous improvement culture focusing on technical excellence.
  • Encourage good housekeeping and 5s standards at all times.
  • Conduct / attend DFM's, GA's, Drawing reviews.
  • Attend tool trials, both in the UK & Overseas utilising the necessary procedures and documentation.
  • Conduct Process Capability studies on critical dimensions & or component weight.
  • Procure / build End of Arm Tooling for Robotics.
  • Ability / Experience creating robot programs for removal of products.

Essential:

  • Strong experience in process engineering within extrusion, injection and rotational moulding.
  • Track record of successful process engineering in a fast-moving, high volume related manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the business.
  • Analytical and able to present data and articulate confidently to present a business case.
  • Attention to detail and an active problem solver seeing the chance to provide an effective solution.
  • Organised and able to work to deadlines and in line with budget.
  • Attention to detail but able to see the bigger picture.
