Location: Council Offices (and site visits around the area)

Currently seeking two dedicated Class 2 (a-f) Building Control Surveyors for a temporary role that could be long term. The role is essential for ensuring public safety, health, and welfare in relation to building construction and compliance with updated Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Day to Day of the role:

Examine deposited plans to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations.

Conduct site visits to verify that building work adheres to the Building Act and other relevant legislation.

Address dangerous structures and demolition sites through site visits, reporting, and necessary action.

Enforce building regulations and undertake enforcement procedures for non-compliant building work.

Review plans and inspect sports grounds and temporary stands under the Sports Grounds Act.

Provide advice to architects, engineers, and the public on Building Control requirements and liaise with various agencies.

Maintain accurate records of all site visits and actions in accordance with procedural requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Recognised qualification in Building Control or a related field.

Accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE).

Thorough knowledge of current Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Experience in enforcement procedures and compliance checks.

Strong communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to maintain detailed records and manage multiple projects.
