Operations Assistant

Location: Thatcham

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £28,500 per annum

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5pm

Are you an organised and efficient individual with experience in international shipping, purchasing, and administrative tasks? Our client, a well-established organisation, is seeking an Operations Assistant. If you are a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a knack for managing pressure, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage international shipments, ensuring compliance with regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Track and monitor shipments, resolving any issues that arise during transit.
  • Handle hazardous goods handling, packing, and documentation.
  • Prepare and manage import and export documentation.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
  • Procure materials and supplies, negotiating prices and managing purchase orders.
  • Collaborate with team members and international offices to ensure efficient workflow and communication.
  • Contribute ideas and opinions to improve team efficiency and processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in international shipping is essential, with some experience in purchasing being ideal.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and their application in shipping, logistics, and procurement.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to contribute at all levels and actively participate in team discussions.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, 37.5 hours a week.
  • Standard working hours of 8.30am - 5pm with 1 hour for lunch.
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • 22 days holiday allowance plus bank holidays.
  • Free onsite parking.
