Health and Safety Professional

Position: H&S Professional - Mainly on site in various locations across the UK

Salary: From £30k to £42k based on experience. Additional £3k car allowance and overtime/bonuses to around £55k OTE

Location: Office location is Birchwood (Warrington) but regular travel to sites across the UK will include working and staying away from home when required for extended periods of time.

Job Role:

H&S Advisor - Site Locations (including CDM):

  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards on site, ensuring contractors on site have been inducted; have relevant competencies/certificates; review RAMS of all contractors; manage safety on project sites in accordance with CDM Regulations (2015) and in line with best practice.
  • Issue Permits to Work (General, Hot, Confined Space, Excavations, etc) and manage all aspects of H&S on project sites, when acting in the role/s of CDM Site Manager/Principal Contractor/other H&S related tasks as agreed with our clients.
  • Undertake and continually review risk assessments, ensuring working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, CDM2015 and occupational disease.
  • Carry out site audits and communicate to relevant parties as required.
  • Develop, implement, and update documents relating to the project (e.g., KPI Tracker, Construction Phase Plan, F10 and as requested and appropriate).
  • Assist with documentation required when the company acts in the roles of Principal Contractor and/or Principal Designer.

H&S Support:

  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, CDM2015 and occupational disease, etc.
  • Design and deliver bespoke H&S advice, support, and guidance as and when required for a range of various clients and industries.
  • Conduct H&S Systems Audit for clients, and advise on recommended actions for compliance and best practice.
  • Guide clients through the application process for H&S accreditation
  • Conduct specialist Risk Assessments with/on behalf of clients (FRA, COVID, First Aid, etc).

Project/CDM Coordination Skills

  • Establish and maintain good working relationship and communications with all project stakeholders (in particular, the Client Project Manager)
  • Attend project meetings (clients/PM/Contractors etc) as and when required. Provide quality minutes from these meetings and escalate to relevant parties as necessary
  • Coordination and collaboration with Operations & Service Delivery Manager regarding project requirements, including resources
  • Maintain good internal communications Operations & Service Delivery Manager / Finance Manager with respect to general project progress, significant changes, commercial matters, issues, or showstoppers
  • Liaise with internal commercial team on technical procurement requirements (cabin hire, fencing hire etc)
  • Ensure high standards of safety are upheld in all project work
  • Produce and update KPI tracker for each project
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to relevant stakeholders concerning progress

GENERAL

  • Provide regular updates on activity and progress, ensuring client requests, concerns and risks are escalated to the Operations & Service Delivery Manager immediately, overseeing the resolution of problems on site as required.
  • Produce management reports on a regular basis as determined by the Operations & Service Delivery Manager.
  • Inform initiatives to improve operational processes to enhance the customer experience and drive business reputation.
  • Engage in individual and team meetings/ activities as required to support performance and development.
  • Ensure up to date knowledge of Health & Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and awareness of developments and new legislation that will affect the industry.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably required within the role.
